Speedy, a 2 stroke Victa with a rust free base and wheels with good tread on them and a motor with probably another 1000hrs of mowing left in it. I would be all over it if it was closer

I'd get that back together if I got it. These are made of thicker steel than later models and will take a catcher made right up to this year.
I think this base with a full crank motor makes for one durable combination that is under appreciated even amongst mower enthusiasts. I would even rate it above an alloy based version.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

I don't think I've ever seen then with a white thing over the height adjuster rod before.Must be a rare piece.
What is it? A hose fitting?
Yes you don't often see them that colour I've had heaps of green ones.Don't think I've ever had an orange one.
I don't think those are the original wheels on it.

At first I thought someone had fitted a washing port to attach your hose for cleaning the underside, as some expensive mowers feature, then wondered how it would work with the fitting facing the rear instead of downward.
It looks like a previous owner has just jammed an old hose nozzle under there to dampen a rattle.

Have you got the rest of the bits apart from the coil module? I will probably be in Bundy later this week.

Good one Trev, I hate seeing good equipment going to the scrap bin, must have been millions of Victa 2 stroke mowers with years of life left in them binned over the years. I don't give a toss about Briggs going in the bin

Hello Ausietrev,
It's missing coil ,module, carb, fuel tank , cowl, decompessor, starter.
I decoked it and got it running but the carb I used was for another mower.
the base is good ,compression good.

Can you fit a coil and module from a Powertorque series?

Good question Mowerfreak, I haven't tried it but I can't see why not but you would need the coil frame because it is different. Then you could go one step further and use the later Powertorque coil which doesn't need a module. I have 4 Victa 24's so at the moment I'm doing a bit of mix and match with full cranks so that sort of mod is on the cards for me, and I love the side pull, much better that the cup type to work with

The full cranks with side starter and their electronic ignition start so easily it's not funny.
I had a utility with this engine sitting in a damp leaking chook shed for two years disused and it fired up straight away when I needed it for slashing duty. The height adjuster was seized solid but this motor ran like it had started last week!!

Wow that seems like an awful lot of work. The way a powertorque coil mounts on it's own would be a big problem. There not really that hard to find another one.Surely that would be easier.
