i have a 76 vc 160 and its a bitch to start if you dont get it going fist pull seems to flood it self then its a bitch because it pulls the stater out of you hand and that hurts,why should itpre ignite or it appears to

Graham what you have done is not tightened up the blade plate nut or put the washer on back to front.

You can usually tell by a shiney look on the blade plate behind the washer.

This causes the kick back when you try to start the machine because it causes a timing problem.

Let me know how you go.

ps bruce where can i get a primmer bulb and plastic backing it is the primmer that is attached to the chassi,i can't use the one with the primmer on th float plate ,can't get fingers to uase it ,have they make a mod to suit or replace the orignal one.i have been using a squirt og mixture down the air cleaer top.
