Welcome aboard mowergirl to the forum.

It is good to see that you are posting because we all here love to see new faces on the forum that we can help with advice.

Your motor sounds like it must have been low on oil to cause the conrod to break. If you post in the question on mowers area with the model type and code of your engine we will upload a parts list so that you can start to cost out your repair before you make your decission regarding a new motor or repair.

Anyway it is good to see that you are back and I will be looking out for your post in the future. cheers2

Thanks Bruce for the welcome and advice. My nephew was on the little ride on and came home saying that it wasn't running right. He had been doing mowing on a vicous slope near a table drain which is an area I never do because of the angle of the engine. I have always been a very gentle mowergirl with the colt. Steady revs etc,. Everytime on of the "boys jump on her a blade gets broken off, or a belt lets go or she gets a flat tyre. You just can't tell them to go easy and she will be a loyal and faithful servant. Alas!!!!

Hi Mowergirl
I am really just trying to see if I can answer thru this sysltem .I have not been able to get ODK up for about 2weeks . I got onto the site thru clicking on a message re a rider mower and then hit some button which put the rider mower question up into one of the bars up at the top of the page ,so when I click on it the ODK site comes up without me signing in.
Anyway my guess is that overrevving is the major cause of con rod breakage . The rod usually finishes up in 3 pieces .Cheers Joe Brown

I don't know whether this particular mower has the Briggs & Stratton 13 cubic inch engine or the Honda. If it's a B&S with the oil slinger system and it had the proper amount of the proper oil, I don't really see how you could tilt the engine enough to impair lubrication without the fuel running out of the tank, but I'm saying that without seeing the mower. On the other hand, over-revving with the B&S governor shouldn't happen unless something has gone wrong with the governor, and that should be pretty obvious if it happens. Personally I'd want to know why it broke before I repaired the engine, in case it happened again (like 30 seconds after you started it up.)
