Can anyone advise me on how to tune the Briggs and Stratton carburettor on a zero turn Toro 16hp ride-on mower. Model No.286H7. Harold

We need to know exactly what kind of Briggs that is, Harold. Please post the Model, Type and Code numbers stamped or printed on the engine. It sounds as if it is a Model 286H77, but we also need the Type and Code numbers, which will be right alongside the model number. Please do not omit any of the numbers (there is no such thing as a 286H7 engine).

Your engine is an Intek overhead valve single cylinder. It will have either a Nikki or a Walbro carburetor: please post pictures of the carburetor so we can tell which.

Well, my attempt to merge Harold's latest post into this thread didn't work.

So here's the essence of what he said:

Quote
Carburetor: Walbro Engine Model: 286H7 0165 Type: E1 Code: 030506ZA Engraved on carby 72. L2M 1073 697203 I would like the settings for the above carby.

Cheers,
Gadge

Hi Gadge, I'd just finished a reply to Harold when you deleted that post. Here's the reply:

I think that will be a Model 286h77 - there is no 286h7.

Here is the Illustrated Parts List:

Here is the Operator's Manual:

The engine was built on 6 May 2003. It is a single cylinder Intek of 470 cc capacity. If it has a Walbro carburetor it will be a model LMT (they were also built with Nikki carburetors).

The maintenance operations on the carburetor occupy a substantial amount of space in the single cylinder Intek manual, which you can download from the manuals section (subscription required). Here is the basic maintenance instruction:
