Hi guys,
I have my old Victa mower running really well now (thanks to the advice given on this forum). It starts every time either 1st or second pull and is cutting really well. However, there is a small problem with the throttle.

I set the throttle to 'start' and she starts...

I go to full throttle and that is fine but when I pull the throttle back to stop (the cut out switch in the carby is inoperative so I short the coil manually)the revs remain high.

Then when I push the throttle forward to start the revs drop to a very nice and steady idle.

Is this normal?

It is something I can live with but its just a bit strange.

Cheers!

Sounds as if there is slack in the speed control cable, either because the cable outer is not anchored or because the cable inner is not anchored or is kinking at the end. The most likely cause would be kinking of the cable inner at the hand-control end. This might happen for various reasons - misalignment, damage to the cable outer, or lack of cable lubrication.
