Never thought I would see one in the flesh let alone get my hands on one, ok, it's not in the best of condition but the basics are there and motor is not seized. It has the GEB engine, number 4929 and the Bing Nornberg carby which I think is original. Just need to put a bit of fresh fuel in, new oil and plug and I should be mowing with it in no time and the scratches in the paint work will polish straight out I reckon. OK, maybe not, hard to see myself getting the bits and pieces required to get her going again but who knows, I hope it can happen one day. One thing is for sure, these things were made strong and this unit has had every last mow rung out of it and even though it's missing bits it is heavy. The deck is still in great shape but that is hardly surprising considering it looks like it was manufactured to withstand the odd land mine blast. Happy to have it on the shelf, if only mowers could talk !
You just don't see these Turner 4Ms nowadays. Yes, the GEB 1 was fitted with a 'Bing' throttle valve slide type. This makes this one Turner's first lawnmower. [the four-stroke was released before the 2-stroke machines in 1959].
Yeah, it is in very good shape!
Thanks for adding to the record.

p.s. it would be great to document that Bing down the track - when you're ready. I do not think we have documented it at all!
Very nice WCE and you are lucky that the carb is still there, should clean up ok. Axles are easy but wheels may be difficult especially the large rears. Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses.
Progress will be slow Paul as parts are few and far between, engine turns over but not a lot of compression, top cover and fuel tank held in place with rivets and all the pivot points are seized, i have started spraying these. I always go a few shades of green when I see your early Turners. Would be good to document the Bing Jack when the time comes, anyone seen a service manual for these ? or an engine repair manual ?
Good idea, but the way I cut things out it wooden roll properly I reckon. Ill have to make a couple of axles and I think I have a few spare sets of wheels I will use in the interim.
