Yes, I think you're right there. That Parafield stunt did nothing but boost our fuel volume in the area. What's interesting is though (I don't know about Parafield's case) a LOT of the time the owners of the sites we buy deliberately keep the sale a secret from their employees until the 11th hour. THAT is disgraceful.

Absolutely I understand you're not arguing (I'm not either. I do apologise if I gave the impression I was). Everyone is entitled to their opinion and discussion is absolutely healthy. I really just wanted to point out that money made by this company stays in Australia. Also the race track in Tailem Bend is going to do wonders for the economy. The powers to be are always on the look out for local produce and do work with local suppliers. I'm sure there are financial reasons for this also BUT it does greatly assist the economy and create jobs where there wouldn't be otherwise.

The biggest players in the fuel market are actually Woolworths and Coles. OTR is only a small fraction. I cannot think off the top of my head what the break up is (Not my area) but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find out.

The story of OTR is actually really interesting if research is done. I was lucky enough a few years ago to meet the owner of a site Fred (the founder) approached in 1984 to lease his building as his first site. The owner declined as he thought the family were "fly by nighters" and would be bankrupt in 6 months unable to pay the rent! How he regrets that decision now!

I will point out however that I have been extremely lucky to work directly with the supervisor I have for the full 10 years. The help and loyalty she gives is amazing BUT you have to earn it.

Anyway I really will stop talking now. If anyone does want to know any more please feel free to PM me. I will happily discuss privately but I like to keep work at work and hobbies at home.

Pete.
