Hi Bruce and everyone else
I recently bought a second-hand McCulloch brushcutter (no manual or user guide) and have been trying to find some info - hopefully a user manual.
It "might" be a MAC 250 (remnants of a sticker on the shaft). I found 3 numbers around the place - possibly serial nos, possibly part numbers...on the plastic carby cover, 1260-84110; on the plastic cover over the piston part, 1260-32210; on the metal engine part just where the carby attaches to the engine block, 1280-12110.
The big problem I have at the moment, is that the starting pull cord broke, and I can't get into the casing to change it myself - it's held on by the shaft. Surely (?) there's an easy way/trick to get into it. My local mower bloke is a bit of a ripoff merchant, he wanted to charge me over $70 recently just to clean some crap out of the carby, and it seems silly that I can't perform a standard maintenance function such as changing the ripcord myself. Additionally, the metal guide for the cord is gone and the cord is eating holes in to the plastic casing (causing the cord to wear and break); the mower guy reckons you can't get the guides any more, which seems very dubious to me - anyhow, I want to get the casing off so I can putty up the existing tears and fabricate my own guide - soon as I can get the casing off!!!
Any info you can provide, especially a manual, would be greatly appreciated.
Yours in anticipation
Eric
