Hello ODK History Lovers

The second most successful lawnmower company in Australia by the end of the 1950s
was Pace Mowers. They held an increasing market share, and were embracing the new
range of Villiers engines specifically designed for rotary lawnmowers.

History records that Victas Mervyn Richardson secretly purchased Pace mowers
from John Longhurst (the founder of Pace Mowers) in order to control the market
in 1959. Pace was given leeway to develop lawnmowers separately from Victa for
the first few years. Credit to Victa for this.

This Parts Manual dates from about 1963, a couple of years before Pace as a
distinct lawnmower maker - would lose its engineering autonomy and be subsumed
under the Victa umbrella when Pace would become just another Victa brand name.

I hope this manual will be helpful to collectors.

The rest is history.

PART TWO Introduction

The introduction is most revealing. It shows Pace had offices in Five States
by the early 1960s, and in its history was now using the Pace (Victa),
Lauson and Kirby engines, but had used Villiers, Simplex, Hurricane, and
Vinco engines in the past. The Introduction Section covers the range
(up to Model 6).

PART THREE - Miscellaneous
Section A is an interesting one in that it covers Miscellaneous Components
spark plugs, spanners, Impulse Starters, and fuel filters. It is a curious
thing that this would appear at the start of a manual Perhaps it shows the
important features of the day. The Impulse Starter was certainly making its
presence known in the early 1960s

PART FOUR - The Pace 125cc Engine
Section B covers the Pace 125cc 2-stroke engines (aka Tiger; aka Victa)
in Mark 1 and Mark 2 guises. I have also included the price list, separate
from the main list.

PART SIX Section D Other 2-Stroke Engines

Unfortunately, this is not an illustrated list.

PART EIGHT - Section F - Lauson & Kirby Engines
Section F the final section - comprises the Lauson and Kirby parts lists.
Whilst I have devided this section up, I am curious about the Pace designations:
they have described the engines as follows:

 Lauson LV22 120cc 4-stroke
 Kirby Lauson 125cc LV30 4-stroke
 Kirby GEB25 135cc 4-stroke
