Hi guys I'm new to the Scott Bonnar45 world and could use some advice from the experts. I have recently purchased this bad boy a 20inch and I wanted to know if it's going to be a money pit for me. I'm not exactly mechanicly minded and world be needing plenty of assistance with most things. So far it starts first pull and seems to cut well. Could I please get some ideas as to what I should be looking out for and also how old and what condition you would say this machine is?
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers and here are some pics

Hi sammy.boi84,

The 20 inch twin rail design SB 45 is rather a problematic machine as it normally suffers from cracked rails due to it's wider span opposed to the 14 and 17 inch machines.

The first thing you need to do is examine very closely around the engine mounting area on the rails and check for lines in the paintwork. If you have any showing then the machine becomes an instant strip down and repair before it gets worse and has dire consequences on the rest of the chassis and also the cutter clutch.

Can you provide some close up photos around the area mentioned after wiping all the dirt and oil away.

Cheers,
BB

Thanks here are some photos hopefully these will help once again any advice is greatly appreciated. From what I can tell it seems to be in reasonable condition without any cracks. Obviously it could use a clean and service is there somewhere people would recommend taking it to I live in Adelaide.

Hi,

I've sent you a PM. Look for the flashing envelope at the top of your page next to "My Stuff"

Cheers,
BB.
