I am restoring a Model 40 Scott Bonnar Reel mower and I'm looking for a catcher (grassbox) in reasonable condition to complete the restoration. Can anybody help?

Thanks Joe for replying; This particular model does'nt have locating pegs but 2 slots approximately 12mm wide cut vertically into both side plates and also 2 semi-circular cut-outs in the grass deflector to allow the catcher to slide down onto the mower. The distance (inside to inside) between the side plates is (16)sixteen inches exactly.Hope this is of help Joe,me not ever having seen a catcher in the flesh;so to speak, I don't know what the hook arrangement on the catcher is!! Kindest Regards, deejay

Hi Deejay 66 Well I found the catcher I was thinking of and I did scab a coldie off my son. However the catcher is 17 #/4 inches wide at the lugs. I took a couple of pics and can send you a pic by email if want. If you dont want to make your address public perhaps I can send it on to Bruce . You may send it to my P.O Box at Box 747 Sale Vic 3850 . It may be quite possible to adapt this catcher Regards Joe

Deejay 66 Measurement should read 17 .3/4 inches wide and the lugs are about 2 1/2 inches long and project forward Joe

Sorry to take so long in getting back to you Joe, but I was really hoping to get an original for it, looks like I might have to get one made. Sure would love to get a gander at the hook attachments... Kindest Regards, Darryl

Hi Deejays I have somewhere her a Brochure for some Scott Bonnars with the grass catcher showing the catchers I can email you the cloe ups when I tidy up a bit and find it. I have seen these fron catchers made up of 2 ends made of timber and then a sheet of marine ply wrapped around . May get you going till one turns up. Joe

Hi Deejay I have sent you off 2 pics via a Nero Email Photo Service which I have on free 15day trial Please let me know if these pics come thru O.K and if the sise is too big. The sytem offered 2 sizes only. Large or Small so I sent Large. In case you cannot make out the fittings arrangement from the pics it seems there is a L shape metal bracket which juts out at the fron of mower and a flattish type of U shaped receiver fastened to the side of the catcher and the catcher just drops on to the L shaped bracket. Just thought perhaps I can scan the brochure and email thru this system Regards Joe

Thanks for the pics Joe,I get the idea now of the attachment, I have a mate who is an engineer who may be able to make one for me.(as a hobby he restores pedal cars)I notice that you come from Sale, I was lucky to have 4 years in Sale with the RAAF from 1977 -1981, lived in Glomar Grove and was a charter member and President of Gippsland Rivers Lions Club in 1979. Many fond memories,Joe......Thanks once again for your help, Kindest Regards, Deejay
