I inherited mum's old Pope, circa 1976 model. Somewhere I also have the original warrenty card and manual. I will scan these when I find them and put them in the photo section
This picture is not mine, but is the same model.

I actually had it running about 5 years ago, but when I tried to start it about 12 months ago, it would not. I think it may have dried fuel in the carb, once I get my Victa Utility running properly I will look at it. The engine on the Pope looks very similar to that on my Flymo L470. Does anyone have any information on the engines on either mower

I love old motors, I restore British Seagull outboards.
Thanks
Chris

They run a carb very similar to a tecumseh which is notorious for blocking up with old fuel, start with cleaning it out just be very careful with the needle seat, and careful with the old gaskets, beware of some of the new gasket kits for the carbys out there as I imported some from america and they were not fuel tolerant. Hence why I suggest just cleaning it first and trying it with the old gaskets.

The engine is a Fuji Robin 2 stroke, made in Japan in the early 1970s: reportedly quite a good engine, especially compared with the Australian ones of that time. It was sold in the US under the Wisconsin brand. Here is a thread about it:
