I posted a little while ago a series of odd mower concepts, including a sew mowers adapted with push bikes, i have since found this image:

Ignoring the Bycicle, this looks to me like somone has found a way to fit a Twin engine to a regular, pressed steel base, you can see the cowl overhangs the front a fair bit.

I know these mounts are substantually different (Both engine & Cowl) anyone ever seen anything like this (wonder if the base has holes we cant see cut in it to accomodate the extra size.

Cheers
Ty

I saw that one when it was on ebay, I cannot remeber how much it went for though.

One wonders how much beer or herbal refreshment was required to come up with the idea....

Considering I have a spare twin engine or two floating around I might see what would be involved with fitting it to a normal base over the weekend. It may be a good fit with the mounting set up right.

It would be interesting to find out Joe, i suspect it may involve cutting allaowance in base behind and infront of the engine, and i cant see any way of doing it in my mind without cutting something out for th e muffler.

And Emmo, i think your dead on the money there, this thing would be a bastard to control by the look of it!

Cheers
Ty

I think it is just a joke. If you wanted to be able to turn it, you'd have to switch to just two wheels, diametrically opposite at the midpoint of the mower (unless you wanted to set up a mechanism to lift up the front wheels whenever you wanted to turn). Also it has standard single-speed pushbike gearing, with about a 3:1 step up in gearing between sprockets, and an additional 1.3:1 step up between the pedal swing radius and the back wheel swing radius. There is no way you could pedal hard enough to move it through actual cuttable grass, even on the flat.
