Hi All,

Can I request for help identifying this Rover rancher and carby so I can buy a replacement.

The engine is a Briggs & Stratton on a Rover Rancher ride on mower.

also previous owner dont know how to put back all the springs and so do I.
Is there a manual how to put back the metal wite and springs on the carby?

Thank you.

Hi artxty,
Before you do anything do you have any history on the motor, always a gamble to throw money at these and then you find the motor is no good. One of the big problems is the governor has failed and that opens up a new can of worms. There is a work around that problem which I have done a number of times but does require some fabrication skills. Another option I have used is fitting a motorbike carby but that also requires some skills
Anyway here is a carby, should fit but as usual they can require some mods

Hi artxty and Norm

The Rover looks like is around mid eighties Rover Rancher 1755 ,there should be code numbers on the front of
the cowl for the exact year .

https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/95536/rover-rancher-brochure-c1985.html

Not sure why you need a new carby as these are easily cleaned and adjusted.

Cheers
Max.

Hi Norm and Max,

I really appreciate your replies.

@Max, the brochure you sent seems to be exactly what i have.

I checked the old carb, and while the engine is briefly running i can see the top screw moving due to vibrations, and some missing screws as well.

btw, what do you call the rubber that connects to the carby?

and also where can i get the wires and spring that i can connect to the plate?

Thanks heaps, I really appreciate all your help.

If the threads are ok it should be easy to tighten the screw and replace the missing screws ,if the thread at the top
is loose some PTFE tape can be used to make the thread a snug fit again.

You could try a mower shop for a spring and they might have some second hand linkage or bend up a new one out of wire.

Hi Max,
Not so easy to make up a new governor rod unless you know exactly what it is you have to make, you have to know exactly what position the butterfly and governor need to be in. Easy if you know how.

Hi Norm,

I just meant if the shop hasn't a spare governor rod ,you could get a length measurement from an engine there and make your own
or the guy at the shop could make one by copying one from a motor.

An old racer bike spoke should do for wire.

I see I got the wrong one last time as there are 2 rubber connectors on the carby.

The one that you are after is the crank case breather tube.

Is there a way i can identify the Briggs & Stratton Motor? is there any part number on the engine that is visible? I'm planning to apply degreaser around the engine hoping to see any motor number if any to identify it? thanks

This Video below shows where the cowl numbers are located artxty for your 11 Hp Briggs motor.
(On the front of the engine directly above the spark plug)
The code number will give you a year of manufacture .

hi all, i have replaced the carb but when i try to engage the deck or change gear to move forward/backward the engine just dies, seems like huge power loss.

also in the carb what should i adjust? i see the screw below when i adjust it the motor revs up, also there is a screw on the top. thanks.
