Whats wrong with the engine you have Norm?
i always reckon that unless a briggs has a leg out of bed, then it would be my first choice to start with.
as for 'out of service' ride ons, check with mower shops , as often they will have dungers that
people dont want to spend money on,( because they think they can buy a new one cheaper), so leave it with
the shop, we've had many in with good engines , ebay isn;t the only place to look.......
peole have long bagged briggs for being a crappy engine, etc, etc, well i can tell you matem that in the face of these crappy imports, they are going to look bullet proof!!!
