Been searching various threads for a few days and still didnt find an answer. I've been looking at restoring a few hand reel mowers and wanted to know the following:

1) What wood is used for the handles?

2) Are there any off the shelf products? (Turned handles etc)

3) Wooden rollers (Easiest solution to make a replacement)

Here is my first crack at restoring, i have a few others to restore but they're missing the handles

I make all my own handles and rollers, and use timber that looks like hard wood

Great stuff!, thats what i was after. I may have to ring a few local wood turners and get them to copy the handle etc.
