Hi All

I inherited a 17inch Scott Bonnar from my grandfather. It wasn't his main mower and thus it has been used by other extended family members and even though its running is in need of some TLC.

I thought restoring and having something of his that I can use would be a good way to remember him.

The catcher and deflector were rusted out so I have sourced new ones already.

Next step is stripping it back for paint and I am sure I will find plenty of things that need attention.

Hi sodasopp,

Big warm welcome for this wonderful medium called the ODK.

The mower you have has had some changes made by a previous tenant at some stage as it no longer has its original engine. It would've been fitted with a Kirby Lauson 2.5Hp engine opposed to the Briggs as displayed.

I see you've gotten serious and already purchased a newly made catcher, so I guess you intend to do a complete back to bare metal restoration ? If so then lots of photos posted along the way will certainly help other members along with yourself to document the process.

Hi BB, yes a full stripdown for paint is planned. I will keep the camera handy for lots of pictures. Hopefully I can learn a thing or two a long the way!
