I have a 2 stroke post hole digger but it has no name on it. It has a carby problem because it has spark and will fire with a squirt of starter fluid. I haven't pulled the carby off yet but was wondering if there was anything to look out for?
To me it looks to be a BBT post hole digger or something like that, most likely around the 62cc size engine. Though they come out in 52cc up to 88cc. Hope this helps.
I just fixed up this... For a mate. I'll see him tomorrow & ask what info he has or knows..
On this one It has a decomp button (I think) (See pic #2) above the pull start... It has to be pushed in to start once it starts it pops out & away she goes.
Have a check of the primer bulb, when I took it off a small orange'ish rubber mushroom looking thingy fell out. I worked out that it had come out of its hole. This thing is like a one way flow valve, It has a almost invisible slit through the center of it so when the primer bulb is pushed it's forced through the slit & in to the carby. Check & make sure it's seated all the way. sits flush (no gap)..
And put on a brake lever for the throttle & the kill button

Such is life....... Nothing better than a "GreenField" just mowed..
Thanks Paul, looks very similar, gearbox looks the same. Mate has 2 of them one a 4 stroke, which the clutch was slipping, I swapped the motors over and that seemed to fix the problem on that one but I would like to sort this 2 stroke one out, spark is great, compression is good, just doesn't want to play ball
Ta, this one seems to have a slight wobble till it's seated. I tried a different plug type & it threaded in much better but too long... It has a NGK BRM7A.. I did notice the thread at the bottom (last 4 threads) were full of carbon/oil build up???

Thanks Bigted, how do they make these things that cheap, I couldn't post in in Aus for that sort of money. And Aus post claims it is making money now. Anyway back to the carby, what is it inside them that makes them work, there looks to be nothing in them, guess I will investigate, certainly nothing to loose
common falt two stroke not used long time two stroke petrol evaporated only two stroke oil left in carb easy fix norm only remove minium parts from carb carefully remove diaphragm this pump the fuel likely full oil wont pump then remove h-l mixture srews spray carb with carb cleaner fluch away oil but back together and try
Was working recently freebird but he broke the throttle trigger, as you know with a fencer, just throw in the trailer, took it to a mower shop to get repaired but it hasn't worked since, I don't think he wants to go back there
yea I know fencer throw stuff in trailer leave in hurry leave runbbish post pailings behind take my money norm please clean carby take you no more 30 minutes try run on prime not sucking fuel does it have prima bulb check it for hole some only have coke to start also some time filter in tank get blocked with crud check fuel system you fix it
Freebird, I have cleaned the filter, primer bulb is working, I'll pull the carb but I don't expect it will fix it. He said he had another carby and would bring it over, see what that does. I swapped the gearboxes over from the 2 stroke to the 4 stroke, I had got the 4 stroke starting well, carby on that was loose and by swapping the gearboxes, got the clutch to hold . Anyway he just dumped it in the trailer, I said to him 4 strokes don't like being tipped upside down, shrugged his shoulders, anyway an hour later he rang me and said that it wouldn't start, I just said "I'm not surprised"
I wonder how good is the fencer sprit level rough with tool all post on de piss carb is simple but carefull pull apart very small parts spring needle seat carb chinnise copy it not pumping fuel diaphragm can be buggered stretched it have to pump and seal fuel ebay sell kit very cheap pull apart and just clean first
All fixed, he had another carby, with a story as to why he had it I didn't bother trying to understand but now the 4 stroke is not revving properly so I guess the carby on that one needs replacing. Do you know if the 2 stroke and 4 stroke carbs are the same? Not sure if he uses a level, probably not
Ok so the post hole digger saga continues. The 2 post hole diggers got pinched out of his trailer so I got him a new one from ebay. This one worked sort of ok, I think it is probably a bit underpowered, and a few weeks ago he brought it back because he couldn't get it started. I put a new carby on it and it fired up fine. I started it up half a dozen times and it seemed fine, then after I had given it a rev I let it come back to idle and it stopped abruptly with a noise that didn't sound good. I have not been able to get a peep out of it since, it has spark, but I'm thinking the flywheel key may have sheared and the timing is now off. Any other thoughts?
Throw away and get another motor? What capacity is it? I have a 26cc off one of those cheapo clutchless bent shaft string trimmers, sitting on the floor of the garage waiting to be attached to something as it runs fine. It looks to be a Chinese copy of the Mitsubishi TU26.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
This is a 66cc should have got an 86cc , just annoys me that it stopped the way it did, I will pull it apart but the only thing I can think of is the timing is off, can't get a peep out of it with starter fluid
Lol NK I hope it isn't simply a case of leaving the switch to off. Has caught me out a few times. That's why I prefer a spring loaded switch. PS: I should have re-read the original post. Sorry.
