G'day Chris, Im always cleaning and painting mowers, but not even close to your level, what a great project. It is a credit to you.

I am interested in the porting you have done.

Any info you could put up about the way you have done it would be much appreciated.
Looks like a golfball inside the intake.
Is the aim to try and get better flow by taking the imperfection out of the casting in the block?
Thanks from Mark

Chris, if you look about for a later model Victa with a straight intake, it should have a bigger jet in it.

The 125 had a circle in the face of the jet.
The 160 is plain on the face.
The straight inlet jet has two circles on the face.

These will only work in a LM carb. LM jet will not work in a G4 carb. Had a mower in the shed early in the week that was over revving to the moon, worked out that it had a G4 carb with LM internals and jet. Swapped it all into a LM body and it was fine, better than a bought one.

If you have a G4 carb (which it probably does) you will need to have a look in the forum for the jetting info for the twin. It uses a bigger jet i think.

I want to do a hop up on the full crank to go in a little gokart. I figure it will rev harder and be a bit more forgiving with being over revved due to the design. Just not real sure with how to carb it. If i should switch to a motorbike style carb, I really would like to to be able to rev up and down freely. Plastic carb will do that but it will wear out eventually.

G'day mark....Well with the porting Ive done on the inlet the more imperfections the better Ive added more with the golfball thing they call them turbulators, Google How does a golfball fly and also (The Secret of Golf Balls Revealed) on youtube and you will see what Im doing with that one,its not new they have been doing it for years on race cars and bikes...I will add more about the porting Ive done on this mower later, and by no means am I a pro at porting I just have a go....here are a few pics of an inlet on a Stihl chainsaw of mine with the same thing as im trying to do, but yes true they do it a little better haha.....cheers Chris [Linked Image]

Thanks bob very interesting I will have to have a look at my carbs (I have a few) to see what jets they have.....To hop up a full crank for a gokart top of the list for carbs would be a Mikuni but they do cost big bucks but you can buy any jets you like sky's the limit with a Mikuni, It dont matter how far you want to go even 2in flames out the exhaust! it would be a walk in the park for a Mikuni carby haha....

G'day all.. Some time has passed since I did the Mustang and in that time Ive worked it hard and it's not missed a beat that is until just recently...It has been losing power slowly the last few times Ive used it, to the point of it has no power now but still runs just!.....
So I went looking as to why? thinking maybe fuel side things I gave the tank/carby a good clean out but it all looked fine as did the air filter, sparkplug was not giving that much away to me apart from not that great of a burn being a little oily but nothing major as in dripping with oil or white from running lean....As I was refitting the carby I spied the decompression valve so gave the hose a suck and bingo! I just got air could not pull the valve up...
I did not change the valve just yet as I prefer the process of elimination one thing at a time so just to be sure it was not the fuel side of things and after about 15 pulls it fired up and was no better so next thing to do is change out the valve (ran out of daylight today)...oh yeah I found a new tenant had moved in as well lol...Cheers [Linked Image]

Not that it is the problem but the plug is wrong. Nice spider though. The best spider I found was a huge redback. Can't love em!

All fixed and back to full power the valve was leaking bad... I was just going to put a power torque valve on but they dont fit, so had to go looking at my full crank 160's for a good long reach decompression valve oh well its going now and back to work for it even gave the old girl a wash...
Christo the spark plug is what my mower shop gave me saying this is the plug I have to run now Victa said so or some crap lol.....[Linked Image]

Hi Chris,

Great to see you got the prob sorted mate, and that it is running as before....Just a question, what is the number on the plug that the mower place says Victa told you to run?
All good stuff! grin

G'day Chris and Deejay,
Chris, could I ask what carby jet you sorted out for this machine?

Deejay, did you ever manage to find out about the plug?

Hi Bushie, the jet for this carby should be the plain faced one.
It's the one on the far right.

The stock jet has worked fine Bushie...but last time I used the Mustang seems I have a problem but as yet have not had time to look at it but I suspect a blown head gasket ..oh the joys of old mowers lol
