Hi all here is my 160cc Mustang Victa im working on,about time i got it done..Im going for as it left Victa with this one to look at anyway haha...The engine is a powerplus and im going to see if i can get a little more out of it with porting and such, only very mild porting as it will still have to mow for it's keep..I will just have to see where i go with the porting when i do it...And yes there is more to a powerplus than just the head.. here are a few before pic's....[Linked Image]

G'day Chris
It looks like you have a great motor to start with.
I am interested in your project.
Hope it all goes smoothly.

Are those heads easy to come across?

Yeah it's not bad for age whatever that is? seems old haha like 80's maybe? ...I don't know how hard the Powerplus is to get.. This is the only one i have not that i look for them.. And there is nothing on this mower to say it's a Powerplus..I got it from the tip for i think 5 bucks i have used it for about 1 year to mow with...With my porting on this im going for more torque not RPM will have pics of everything i do...it's the carb that will hold it back as in it's easy to get more fuel but air not so on this kind of carb....Cheers

Hey guys ,
chris your engine is indeed an 80 series engine as itt has the side starter and the coil isnt under the flywheel, they were a tough mower and have survived well those 80 series motors never seemed to wear much.
mark the power plus heads are quiet common victa mowers with a power plus sticker has one some of the super 24's had them , utility's but make sure you have the muffler or you will find the standard muffler will restrict any extra power the head gives you.

Ok Ive got the crankcase back together, one tip is to wipe some grease on the lip of the seals and also use plenty of 2 stroke oil on the crank bearings and bigend bearing when reassembling...I use ThreeBond to seal the crankcases... [Linked Image]

On this i used Tremco metal armour in John deer green it a very good paint...I try not to use cheap paint out of the can it never looks that good and takes bugger all for the sun to fade it...its only a few bucks more for a realy good paint out of the can....

Hi Chris and congrats on a fine paint job there mate, it looks great!
Thanks for posting the details of the paint... next question...where can you buy it?
That colour is a lot brighter than original, but I really like it, I have always admired the John Deere green and yellow paint scheme. grin
cheers

Thanks Deejay, The paint i get from a little paint shop in my town they only sell paint so i think a paint shop would be the best place to try and get that paint...one thing with this paint it takes a few hrs to touch dry...

Hi guys im done with the porting...I worked all the ports over for more flow, and worked the transfer ports to flow more to the back of the cylinder..Its only mild porting just to try and get a little more flow and better mix of air and fuel, might work just have to see how it goes...cheers [Linked Image]

Not long now and it will be a runner look out haha...here are a few pics and one of the exhaust port i forgot to post when i put the pics of the porting up..Just one thing for the guys that dont know the powerplus engine has a high flow muffler, I dont know if they would run very good with just a stock muffler...Cheers [Linked Image]

Good stuff.

Be interested to hear back how the port work works.

Not sure it will amount to a hell of a lot without a jetting change.

Yes your right there to port a two stroke engine you realy have to know how to jet one..With the work Ive done on this one id say stock jetting will be fine but if not i will mod the main jet for more fuel..if you where to port one in a bigger way and not tune it with jetting it would be seized in no time...The biggest restriction on a mower that ive seen is the air box they let stuff all air in and I think its more a safty thing to stop it from ever running away with hi revs, and also a big restriction is in the fuel system the carb can only get what the pin hole of a feed will let it, also a safty thing id say to stop it ever getting a little to rev happy and running away...With this mower i hope to have picked some torque up not looking for more revs..Cheers
