I did get it going but after getting it home now I can't.I guess there must be junk in the carby. When it was running it was running better than most twins,it was very very smooth.Just a bit noisy,as the muffler plate has rusted away,as usual.
The only real problem is the catcher it's not in such great shape.I do have another reasonable red catcher so I guess when it comes to restore time I will have to try and paint one green.Someone has buggered the handles up.It looks like they maybe lost the section divider between the bars and have put a short one in,not to worry I should have another set here. All in all I'm very happy for $5.

Fantastic price.
Good buying for any mower at that money.

Shame about the catcher.
With a soldering iron and some donor plastic anything can be fixed. Might not last or look the best, but it could be fixed.

Yeah I know Bob,but it may just be easier just to paint a red one.I have a spare red catcher that is in fairly good condition.

Painting plastic is frough with perril.

I would strongly advise against it.

You just have to get a plastic primer and it will work quite well.Remember how many car bumpers are painted in plastic. The paint just has to be able to flex a little, but it is very doable.

With the right paint.

But the bumpers on cars are not 30+ years old plastic thats weathered and dried out.

My thinking was more along the lines of plastic fuel tanks and motor bike plastics. Fuel tanks are a different issue, but motorbike side plastics are not that different.

Twin catchers are hard to find.
If you have a good orange one, painting over it is basically throwing away a good orange catcher that might have been worth a lot of money to someone or might have been a swap for a good green one. (i doubt it the orange ones are by far more common)

Im sure its a ways off yet, if i remember right you have a big pile of mowers to restore.

Yes that's the problem I do have a few restores in front of it.The biggest problem at the moment is to many other fixable/sell-able mowers in the way at present. Can't get to my restores. It's giving me the pips.Anyway your right something may turn up.If not I guarantee painting one won't be a problem. It will work out just fine.

Does it have spark to both cylinders and is it getting fuel?

strong at the front , blue but dull at rear .. fuel yes i think but the engine was full of water when i got it , hence the noisy bearings ! but its ok i'll try again soon but dont wanto damage more than it is already but man it would be great to hear it going ! same as yours though no bottom left on the muffler , just gauze type stuff and bits of rusty steel . its been sitting now for a month or more , no plugs and under cover in the warm breeze , we still have !! so nice n dry now i hope .

Sounds like it might be advisable to pull engine apart and check it before starting.

Hmm you may need one that is around the right size.Otherwise the engine may be a little unbalanced.

The disc is the same just the blades are longer. Same blades as the later Tornado and the contractor mustang. You can buy the blades from bunnings.

A disc with no blades is fine for running a mower. Not so fine for test mowing grass. lol

Only ones that have their own discs are the compact and the older full crank utilites.
All the other discs have the same distance/diameter blade bolts reguardless of the shape.
