Hi Peter, firstly, let me congratulate you on becoming a Scott Bonnar owner.
Your mower is a Model 17 Supercut (petrol) and from the pic seems to be in great condition for its age. It was built in Adelaide, and the Model 17 was first manufactured in 1950. They came in 2 widths of cut; a 14" and a 16". It is hard to tell from the pic, but I think yours would be the 16" model.
As regards to its condition, I think it will make an excellent restoration. From memory, I think that the engine would be a Villiers 147cc Mark 25C, but they did use different models of Villiers during this period.
The alloy side gear case was highly polished, with the raised "Supercut" and "Scott Bonnar" name in alloy left unpainted, but "fire engine red" for the background. The engine driven shaft, drive sprocket and cutter clutch assy as well as the flywheel, were also "fire engine red" as were the cylinder reel, the very top edge of the grass deflector and the inside of the grass box (catcher).
The inside and outside of the grass deflector, (your is incorrectly painted red); the engine cowling, chain guard, fuel tank and mower frame (chassis) and grass box (outside) were all finished in a colour extremely close to "Deep Brunswick Green" which is still available.
The "Supercut" was the Rolls-Royce of Australian made mowers in its day, and, well maintained, will last a lifetime.
Hoping this has been of some help to you Peter,
