Hi All, Can I ask for advise please. The engine on the cox mower is a Honda gv400, I would like to replace the carburetor but I'm not sure where to buy it. I've seen one on ebay, but I'm not 100% if its the same carb for this model.
The engine seems like its sputtering. I have missing 2 gaskets for both ends of the carbs, i tried using cardboard on one end.
the carb is thoroughly cleaned, it has new pin, and the holes in the screws are cleaned as well.
Btw, can you help me identify what model is this mower? And if manuals are available?
Sounds like the carby has been completely dismantled and cleaned similar to this video below .I haven't used the aftermarket carby on one of these 12 Hp motors to know how well they work .
Hi. I have a GV400 engine on an old Masport self-propelled mower/slasher which I recently bought. As a sweetener, the seller gave me a new carby he bought from a 3rd-party source, to replace the existing original one on the Honda. I did not like the look of the new carby, just not a quality product and nothing like the original. I decided to fully strip, properly clean and service the original carby, and guess what? Now the engine actually starts after the first pull every time. BTW, the video in the first post/thread shows that the black insulator/spacer is in between the air cleaner elbow and the carby, but should be in between the carby and the intake elbow to the engine, as shown in the April 1979 Honda Shop Manual on P27.
I purchased the manual online from one of the sites promoting and selling the original manual. As it turned out, the asking price was about US$18.00, but after the delivery fee, conversion to A$, then GST, etc, it ended up at about A$80.00. Delivery was about 10 days. This manual also includes the two supplements. Cheers, R
As these are sold by individuals as one-off sales, the seller of my manual probably has no more available. Below are four sites I have found via Mr G that may still have one for sale:
