Hello ODK members
I say old bean, have you heard of a Victa Aero by chance?

Well, at least one example survives, and it must date to the early
1950s when Victa were using Villiers Midget engines.

We know Mervyn Richardson had a keen interest in aircraft and
the Aero hints at his early understandings of airflow and lift.

At 20 quid, this would be a great buy for the serious collector. grin

Hmmm I think I would rather have the UK Victa Pro 700 with the 247cc 2 stroke. smile

JLO were acquired by Tecumseh. The German motor manufacturing facilities were sold
to American Tecumseh Products Company in 1977.

Cheers
Max.

You would have to be careful buying this and thinking you are getting a collectible mower, the whole thing looks like a home made add on to a 70's Victa, from the fuel tank to the shroud and fan etc, a bit of a hoax maybe????

I was going to say I already have someone picking up this vintage Aero mower for me but thought people might take this
seriously and not notice the heading on this topic" Mishaps and Funny Stuff "

Yep extracting the Michael .

G'day Max, Joe and Beech
Beech raises an interesting question about this being a 'hoax'.
To hoax is to have an intention to deceive or trick.

I don't know what the seller intended here.
He says, "you are bidding on a victa aero petrol lawnmower".

I would think the seller must have known something. One type of seller
will tell the truth; others will remain silent by offering little description,
in the hope their victim will fall for it.

In many ways, I'm the hoaxer in this story, although Max
was always on to it. In my favour, I did leave clues... grin
However, I had an intention to take the Michael.

I have reported myself to the ODK Administrator.
No conflict of interest there - nothing to see here.

Some memorable stories stick out from ODK: -

These mowers should be considered collectable.
I name them 'bitsas' - and some have shown ingenuity.

Others are just ridiculous.
In this case, the Aero has a clockwise turning motor.
Note the positioning and angle of the flywheel blades ... grin
What was the bitsameister thinking?

Another example of ridiculousness discussed on ODK:
