I have just joined. My interest is in early Rover Slashers from the early '60s of which I have three.
Also I have several Rover mowers, models not known. Red B&S 4hp, blue chassis with a single belt drive.
It is my aim to restore the slashers. All are running. The mowers are another story.
I have fond memories of the 25" Rover slasher mower. It was a favourite with municipal councils and the AUS military. It was a tremendous commercial success and it's life span is impressive - about 3 decades!
The interesting thing is that the HD25 was originally named the Rover Rider.
The problem I have at the moment is with my two Rover push mowers. I am not certain of the models but they have the red 4hp Briggs and Strat on a blue chassis which is a side through.
There is a belt underneath for self propulsion but I prefer to push.
My problem is that the carby is on the fuel tank with all mechanism exposed - ie al the springs. These have been damaged or have gone missing over time. I tried ordering a few sets but all I received were el cheapo Chinese made springs with no 'guts'.
Can you help with these - where may I obtain them and which one goes where. These mowers are tough little beats and I wish to get them back into service.
