Nice find today, body is in excellent condition, no play/slop at all in the front axle, catcher was full of recently cut grass, probably used a couple of weeks ago. Left beside a hard waste pile, so hopefully it was meant to go. I can't believe the overall condition it is in. Has lost spark so I assume this is the reason it was put out. I will try a PT module on it tomorrow and I see no reason why it won't run. It is a cracking mower

Very nice Norm

It looks great; I am half expecting you to rip apart the carby, see the cam and go - this is one of mine

One thing I just can't understand is why people put them out with the catcher full - it really annoys me. They must know someone is going to have to take the catcher off to lug it into the car, so do they deliberately do it to annoy us?

That being said, I have never lugged a mower with full catcher - I usually dump the grass either spread on the verge (if its crap already), in a nearby council park bin, or (my favourite) the owners 1/2 full green bin. I mean christ, it would have taken them 15 seconds as the bin was right next to it.

A silver Mayfair. I likes it! Takes a decade off it.
Nice you found one after I did a couple of months ago.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Yes this one is too good to strip down to keep the motor for a slasher, no damage whatsoever to the bade or the catcher. It obviously hasn't done the amount of work these old Victas usually have done

You'll have it going in milliseconds Norm. Then you can wheel it under the bed. You must be over the moon to find something this good. The front wheels look to have remarkable tread.
Collectors are turning their attention to low arches where they were largely overlooked not too long ago.
I think the cessation of two stroke production has made anything two stroke go up of late, much like Australian cars.

Hi MF,
as you said, I cut the wire going to the carby, connected a module to that and if fired up first pull. Yes the wheels were a surprise, tread still there, and no slop in the bushes, all round it is in excellent condition. The house where it was picked up from is about 150 meters from my place and their grass is fairly long and I feel bad and was thinking I should offer to cut their lawn, not with this little gem though, wouldn't want to make a bad situation for them even worse. LOL.

Hi Norm ,Paul ,Tyler and Mf

Yes excellent find Norm ,I have not picked up a good old Victa like that one for years , I had a quick look today
to see what was up for grabs ,first time this year I have looked for a mower ,found 3 together and went home.

Two alloy base Rovers and one metal base Victa Pace ,all the motors had good compression and bases
are good. Yep someone has stolen the Rovers badges lol.

Cheers
Max.

BTW NormK, is it a 125 or 160? Easiest way to tell from that era is the angle of the spark plug. If it's off to one side it's a 125.
Pointing straight back it's a 160. The K mart store brand I found recently is a 125 and it runs fabulous!
