Thanks for that Deejay, that's exactly what I have.
My wife and I are heading off for a trip around Australia on our motor bike in 2 weeks time, so I haven't been fiddling with the mower very much ....... I will save that for when we get home, but, I did pull the carby off this afternoon and found lots of dirt and build-up inside it and it is all nice and clean now. I found this link ....
http://www.lawn-mower-shop.com/carb1.htm after I had it all back together and it shows how to set the float. When I had it apart and upside down the float was resting on the carb body. This didn't look right to me so I set it about parallel with the body and it now runs a little better. After idling away for anymore than a few minutes it would just stop, but start up straight away with a quick pull on the rope. Now I think it would sit there idling away all day if I let it. Also the plug used to be a bit wet, and now it looks good after a run.
