Hi guys,

I was given a 38 model edger, and am replacing the blades. How are they meant to go on? They have nylock nuts should these be done up tights with the blades poking out in line with the holder or should they be at a slight angle or 90 degrees to the holder?

Thanks in advance...

Hi Ray078, and a warm welcome to the forum. It's great to have another Scott Bonnar owner on board. grin
Never having owned one of these machines, I have not seen how the blades attach, but the following illustration I have found of a Model 38 gives some detail....they are contra-rotating swing back blades...

Hoping this helps,

Ray,

If you have the correct bolts you will note that they have a small lip where the blade sits, which means that you should be able to tighten the nut up and the blade will have some movement.

Note if the blades don't have some movement on the holder it could be dangerous for the operator because the blade could brake and fly off. cheers2
