Hello ODK History Lovers
I cant say I understand the reason(s) why the Wiltshire File Company took
over the John Boundys Company in the late 1950s.

Its pretty clear that, whilst Wiltshire did expend considerable capital on the
development of the mower in the late 1950s, the plan suddenly changed at
the beginning of the 1960s.

Wiltshire abandoned the Boundy engine with a sell-off announced in April of
1961. If the Boundy lawnmower would survive it would be without the heart
and soul of the unique Boundy 2-stroke.

The Boundy lawnmower did survive after this for a short time.
Can you guess the new power-plant?

PART TWO The Final Lawn Patrol
The final Lawn Patrol was powered with a Briggs & Stratton 8 Series 4-stroke.
The chassis was updated to reflect more modern styling (the auto grill was out).

The new base reminds me of the Supa-Swift mowers at that time.
Yes, I have a suspicious mind...

I wonder whether the last Lawn Patrol chassis were made by Swift Foundries?
Both were Melbourne companies...

The last Lawn Patrols were living on borrowed time.
No grass catcher available, and no rear discharge model on the horizon...

This must have been a painful death for a once-proud lawnmower maker.
Side discharge mowers were on the outer in the 1960s particularly if they
could not take a catcher. By late 1962, if you could not offer the new rear
catcher jobs you had to take note to survive the decade.

The last ads for Boundy I have come from 1962.

A last model Lawn Patrol was offered on an auction site in May, 2018
The seller identified it as a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower.

This is, in fact, the last Lawn Patrol.
