I recently bought a Rover Colt 8hp ride-on

and I don't think it's got the standard muffler on it. The can on it is about 150mm long , 70mm in diameter and screws into the block. But the block is also set up for a flanged fitting. It makes contact with the mud-guard (and rattles), and throws off a lot of heat right next to the carby bowl. Did this model come with a different set up ? Maybe an offset pipe ?
