My 1999 rover rancher is coughing. I think the fuel pump is dead. It runs OK but the fuel tank needs to be nearly full. Can I bypass the fuel pump or do I need to replace it?

cheers

Need more information regarding the Rancher(model number) and the model type and code of the engine

Do you have a fuel filter before the pump, it should be between the pump and the tank if you have one.

Check this first before we further please. cheers2

auberon59,

Acording to the parts list you have a fuel filter as part of the fuel tap and if you have a fuel filter as well before the fuel pump I would be replacing both filters before playing with the pump.

Let us know how you go after doing the replacement of the fuel filters. cheers2

Thanks for your help. I replaced the inline fuel filter and that made a big diffrence. The air intake into the fuel pump was clogged so when this was cleaned the fuel got through well. I will replace the filter at the bottom of the tank next.

cheers
