hi Bruce Me again.. I sold the tbc 4200 and now have a 220 that I'm tryinh yto fix
i have put 2new rings on the piston new fuel hoses, (not original hoses) new fuel filter, and air filter have set the idle to where the head stops spinning. not the easiest to start now before it was a dream. when it goes it goes ok sometimes then other times it bogs down, then sometimes when its idling the revs fluctuate a little then dies
would be great to have your advice thanks Bruce...

briggsboy, Sounds like you need to replace the carby diaphrams. When you have it running, if you shake it do the rev's fluctuate? :p If so it is carby. What was the cylinder like?

hi Bruce
The cylinder is in great condition, the piston had black on it but it came off easy with a litle steel wool, the only reason i replaced the rings was coz i broke one as i tried to put it back into the cylinder head .... ouch....
thanks bruce

briggsboy, I assum then what you are saying that the rev's fluctuates when you move the machine (like shake it). 1.What type of fuel filter (brand) did you use? 2.When you put the fuel line in and the filter is on it, does it reach the furthest point of the tank? 3.When you put fuel in the tank and cap on does fuel come out of the fuel line when it is not connected to the carby?(you will have to clamp the line that does not have the fuel filter on it) Just one silly question: Have you put the fuel line on the carby correctly ie on the inlet (fuel filter one) and not on the outlet?

hi Bruce
I did the test re clamping the line with no filter and the fuel flowed out of the line that goes to the carby... with or with out filter . The filter i use is a metal type that i got from a hobby shop used for small petrol racing cars..
Re how the lines are conected i had them done each way and one way i had it when i pushed the primer once the petrol came out at poured right out of the carby..flooded i guess the word is..
the other way i dont see it going in but it does the job in that fuel is there also..
regards Frank
ps..hows the parts for the Mccullock chasinsaw going ?

briggsboy, I can only get second hand parts for the chainsaw. I will send you costing this week. As to the tanaka, what sort of petrol cap is on it?

hi Bruce
I changed the diaphram hoses ect nothing was left out being a good machine i surcummed to having to give it to a pro.. hmmmm after seeing it he rang me and told me the head (inside chrome plated) was coming of and was no good only option to throw it away ...I found it hard to believe because it worked great. i put new rings in and you know the rest.. do you have an old head tanaka 220 around ?? i know that answer sadly.... any other ideas ...how much is a head worth
regards a sad little briggsboy

briggs boy, Can you take a picture of the inside of the cylinder as I have never come accross the chrome pealing off the cylinder in 30 years. If you were talking about a Ryobi yes I would understand.
