Hi all,
A question regarding resealing the two crankcase halves. What is the correct product to use as a seal?
Thanks! Uni

They didnt come with a sealant from factory. If the surfaces have been linished or damaged then you can use one.

In anycase, I do use a sealer,Permatex Aviation" cement.

Use sparingly and if possible leave a 1 mm gap on the inner for expansion, although minor spill will not harm the engine as it does not dry.

Clean up the outer casing with turps.

This will give one of the best seals for non gasket applications.

Do not use Silicone, as over spill can break off into the engine.

Just to clarify on Blue's post, there are a few grades of Permatex gasket sealant.
The one to use is #3, the non-hardening aviation type in the brush bottle.

Cheers,
Gadge

Yep thats him. Cheers Gadge for the clarification....:)

Spot on Blumbly, Basically the Same product just in Locktite Brand.

Been using this for over 20 years, I buy in bulk so I get the Permatex cheaper than the Locktite

Thanks Guys...
