Hi, I'm interested to find anyone remedies for rusty fuel tanks. My fleet of Victa 18's are struggling and I find I'm spending a fair amount of time with the carbys in pieces. The more touching things means to more things break, So if you have any rust fix solutions please add them on here. Cheers.
Wow that looks like the goods Murray. Bit out of my price range but if I get six tanks out of it it might be alright. I wish they had this stuff in the 80s when I had Motorbike tank rust issues. The stuff back then used to peel away and be more trouble than it's worth.
G'day apple cider vinegar I hear is good for rust removal in fuel tanks if your patient enough as it takes time a day or two I think form what Ive read but the end result is excellent they say...Am yet to try it myself but from what I have read sounds like it works good..To get the whole how to do this ,just Google apple cider vinegar rust removal gas/fuel tanks...Cheers
see the topics on electrolysis for rust removal. to do this on a tank you will have to have a sacrificial anode that can fit inside the tank ,as electrolysis works on line of site. it works extremely well and will remove all traces of rust. i would then go and follow the gravel and kero method inside to polish it all up. wrap it up in bubble wrap and put inside your clothes dryer or similar and let it spin away
If my collection is complete ( then how come i keep buying stuff ? ) 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I filled my tank up with cleaning vinegar and left it over night then tiped a bit out and added a cup of rice and shake the day lights out of it just dont leave the cleaning vinegar in there to long I have seen the stuff eat a 20cent piece away in a week (cleaning section at woolies normally on the bottom shelf hiden away). My next tank im going to do an electrolysis bath with 6 anodes 5 external and one internal
