Hi people I have a Cox Stockman with a 13hp B&S ride on and am in need of adjusting the clutch plates ( forwards & reverse) onto the drive cone. Have loosened all grubscrews but am unable to move "clutch plates" by hand, is it alright to give them a bit of a wack with a rubber hammer or not. Any other ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks Paul.

G'day Paul,
Yes, the plates slide along their shaft.
I would make sure the shaft is clean and rust free by using a long strip of fine grade wet and dry sand paper, then lubricate it before using your rubber mallet.

Here is some information I have for the older type Cox mower. I've never seen the plates on a Stockman, cant imagine it being too much different.

The clearance from cone to plate is quite small.

Hi Mark, sorry took so long, in bed crook fri & sat. Got up early this morning, done as you suggested as well as followed instructions you submitted for me and hey presto, working like a new one. Both plates were rusted in one position, but after a light rub, a little tap with rubber hammer and a bit of rust removing spray, which was cleaned up so as not to cause slippage on drive cone, was able to adjust drive plates to suggested gap using my feeler gauges . Thanks for the help and information Mark, much appreciated, Paul.
