This machine looks like an interesting concept for people with reasonably smooth, grassy acreage:

It incorporates some features that appear to avoid some of the standard design traps in this kind of product. (It may have failed to avoid others - can't tell from the ebay item.) Does anyone know who made it? I can't see any manufacturer identification on it, which seems strange.

Grumpy,

It could be an early Tow-n-mow. Click HERE here for their site. cheers2

Thanks Bruce, it seems like a pity if so - their current products have given up every one of the features that impressed me on that green one on ebay.

Thanks for the suggestion Bruce, I've done that - I'll pass on the content of any reply I receive.

Here is the reply from Tow-N-Mow:

"It is not one of ours, although a similar concept. Our early ones were
green, however the deck was much the same as our current shape.

"Our slashers are made in Geelong and have locally machined components.

"We manufacture small volumes of very high quality slashers.

"Please see our webpage for further information or feel free to call the
office if you have any questions.

Kind regards"

Courteous of them to reply so quickly, but I'm bewildered by how the two types of slasher could be a "similar concept", except you tow them and they are self-powered with rotary cutters.

The back wheels look like Rover rancher front wheels.

It might be a tennants job.

Could be, Bob - all the bits look as if they could have been made in a decent home workshop - but it seems to be a nice design. An amateur who could design that, has overlooked a career opportunity in mechanical engineering.
