Hi, was wondering if anyone can tell me the basic princible behind how a twin cylinder 2 stroke engine works (for i have no idea and it confuses me). I know the basics of a single cyl. but cant grasp how a twin would work. Regards sowatt0
One of the problems that they had with the twin cylinder was that one run hot and the other cold. That is why they only manufactured the twin for a short period of time. :Wavey:

The twin has a common crankcase and both cylinders fire at the same time at the end of each comression stroke thus eliminating the need for a crankshaft counter balance and dual ignition setup. My Victa 170cc twin cylinder engine powers my microlight aircraft and runs with very little vibration.
