Hi all,

Well I finally fully rebuilt my Victa twin and it just fired up for a minute or so then died. Check for spark and found that when it did spark it was yellowish. Sent the coil of to ge tested and was told that the secondary coil is failing.

I noticed on the now locked previous Twin posting that people have had sucess building an ignition system using 2 coils from single cylinders.

Is there anymore information available on this topic, ie diagrams and pictures as it seems that this is the only way to get this machine running again due to the lack of parts for it.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas

Victa twin 700,
I might be able to get my hands on a new twin coil if you are interested.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the offer, what dollars would you be looking for? I actually managed to get the machine running again using the two colis from PowerTorque engines, it seems that the secret was to totally ditch the points arrangment and install a module (I overlooked that part!). It needs some TLC to get it going really well. I was also told by a mechanic that somtimes the conversion from points to electronic will cure a semi shot twin coil.

Thanks
Romesh

Victa twin 700,
I'll be reconditioning my victa twin soon and was wondering how hard the parts are to find eg. bigend and gudgion pin needle bearings, crankshaft seals.
Do the standard victa pistons and rings fit?

I have one of those, it runs oK I'm currently going through the old mower collection and getting a few going. Were these a good mower? (personaly I think the VC160 is the best)I was thinking of perhaps using this for a gokart as I have a victa drum mower centrifical clutch.
