Hello I have Recently aquired this rideon. It is a 12 HP Victa, Serial no TD0401352 (under seat). I am hoping someone can help me identify model and year.[Linked Image]

If you could put up a few more images, that would be great, as well as any numbers and words on the engine, sides, hood, or anywhere.

Seems similar to this in my mind, have a look and tell me how close you think i may be:

I can tell you this about the mower in the picture i have put up:

12.5 hp Engine
Friction Drive
Electric clutch for the cutting deck
Heel Toe operation
40" Cutting Deck

As for the age, we may be able to help more with a few engine details you can give us.

I'm guessing its a briggs & stratton engine, somwhere on the cooling cowl of the engine (the metal cover bolted directly to the top of the engine) you will find a series of numbers stamped, if you pop those up, we can tell you a fair bit more about the engine, including its date of manufacture, whitch will give a good indicator as to the age of the entire mower.

Cheers
Ty

Well i can start you off with the Code, 890622 would be 22 Jun 1989 from what i know, there are others here that will be able to say more, I'm pretty sure your looking at 28 Cubic Inches (about 458.8cc)

The date of the engine would put it most likeley on an 89 mower i would say, or possibly early 1990, depending on how long beween the buld of the engine, and when it was put on the mower.

Cheers
Ty

There's stuff in the manuals section for Briggs engines, and Victa ride on's, including a document marked victa_12-38 in the ride on section

Cheers
Ty

Ty is right of course, regarding the engine's size and date of manufacture (it's actually 465.7 cc - the 28 cubic inch figure is rounded from 28.42). It is a second generation design, with a vertical crankshaft and flo-jet carburetor, plain main bearings, and an electric starter (12 volt gear drive, with alternator). The operator's manual is here:

http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=mssAIQ-K_ny7tH217FzoPu

The illustrated parts list is here:

http://bsintek.basco.com/BriggsDocumentDisplay/default.aspx?filename=Z6ntzHVJ1DajI

You can find the universal B&S overhaul manual for engines of that period here:

http://www.tpub.com/content/recoveryvehicles/TM-5-4240-501-14P/css/TM-5-4240-501-14P_70.htm

(Use the "next" button to leaf through the 225 pages.)

Can't help you with the mower manual, but as Ty said, you could begin with the parts and manuals section of this site - there are quite a few manuals for Victa ride-ons there.
