Hello, I bought a McCulloch ES 416, second-hand, it was still new, the seller "couldn't use it". I read the manual, oiled the chain & nose sprocket, made sure the bar was fitted correctly, and tried it out. After a short time, the chain slowed, or stopped completely, with the motor still running, as if a clutch was slipping. I didn't have any warranty, so with 50 years mechanical experience, and a lot of power tool experience, I dismantled it, expecting to find an obviously worn or broken part. Everything looked ok, The "dog" clutch teeth have a ramp on one edge, no metal filings, so I guess that is normal. I re-assembled it, it worked well for a few minutes, first the chain was slowing, with the motor running normally, then no drive to the chain at all. What is causing the problem in this second-hand new chainsaw??
Cheers, Rod
