Has anybody got a fix for governor failure on these motors without doing a strip down which is cost impractical?

Hi Norm,

With my first LPG Honda motor ,I disconnected the governor and connected up a Tachometer and adjusted the rpm manually.

You could just set the throttle control so the motor can't over rev but it's not that good for cutting longer grass as the motor
wants to stall more without the governor, the mower works well if the grass isn't too long without a governor.

I seem to remember you doing a similar thing on ride on mowers when the governor isn't working ,you just disconnect
the governor linkage and set the throttle so it's not over revving.

Fitting a linkage or butterfly stop would stop the engine over revving.

Cheers
Max.

Hi Max, yes I have done a few like that so you can control the revs but it is quite a bit of work because to use the existing butterfly control you have to slow it right down because 1/4 inch on the butterfly is from zero to flat out so I have to set up a reverse governor arm to slow the throttle travel down. I was just hoping somebody had come up with some other idea.

Once the governor fails you taking a chance that broken parts don't simply bounce around and causing even more damage like jamming the crankshaft to camshaft gear train.

Yes I know AVB, but it is a chance you have to take with these motors, they are not worth the hours you can spend pulling them down because nobody is ever going to pay for it
