I have had a bloke contact me saying the belt keeps throwing off his 24. He says it is all original and pulleys haven't been altered. It is in Sydney so I can't look at it but the only thing I can think of is a problem with the belt. Anybody have any other thoughts?

Hi Norm,

Without inspecting the parts it's difficult to say the cause ,could be a something worn like bearings ,belt ,pulleys ,loose belt etc.

Belt covers could have rusted out allowing grass to get caught up in the pulleys.

https://www.acorn-ind.co.uk/insight/top-8-causes-of-v-belt-failure/

Sometimes I store mowers in sheds and mud wasps fill the v pulleys.

Maybe someone has used a standard V belt and not the correct high strength belt as I assume from the price of the
new belts they must be stronger than standard belts.

Cheers
Max.

Hi Max,
yes always a hard guess but he has been using it up until the belt started coming off. At that price I would just use a standard belt, big deal if you had to replace it every few years
