As I commence refurbishment of my 1972 Victa Imperial 16" reel mower I am wanting to replace the worn out segmented front wooden rollers with a solid metal one. Has any one (in WA hopefully) got any old front rollers lying around that I might be able to have for some $s. Can be off anything as I have the equipment and skills to cut down and modify.. OD = approx 75mm, length = 405mm, shaft diameter = 3/4"
Go to a muffler shop and grab a length of 2.75 inch muffler pipe, go to a mower shop and get 2x GA spares CHD1833 (scott bonnar roller ends.
Cut muffler pipe length to suit, the roller ends will bang straight into the muffler pipe. Hopefully the shaft dia of the end caps is 3/4", maybe you might have to turn the plastic ends out on a lathe a bit
Can even buff the muffler pipe up to a shine if you are so inclined
I needed some new wooden rollers for a renovation of a Scott Bonnar model 19 I did for my brother in law, I hunted down a wood turning club and for $30 a wood turner made 3 new rollers for me, he even suggested what type of hardwood to use, just a suggestion, the brother in law was super impressed!
