I need to clean out the shed and sell some of my mowers as i just dont have room and they need someone who can give them the time to look after them.
I initially posted on FB but you get allsorts on there.
Im in Moorebank, Sydney.
If the price is right I will sell, otherwise they will go back in the shed.. make a serious offer on any item (or the whole lot).
1. Victa supreme with catcher. Mower starts and runs. I don't think Air filter cover is original.
2. Early victa VC 160. I don't think its meant to be zip start (I think its meant to be wind up). Also, air filter is not matching. Last time I started it was 5 years ago.
3. Cortina, the base is in hood condition, the catcher is pretty busted up. Again, haven't started in +5 years.
4. Assorted parts. I took the high compression head off a power plus (if I remember right) about a decade ago.
Hi, I don't buy old mowers much, get a few going well, sell for $50 $60....bit more if they are good..... Chain them to the front fence and put a price tag on them, I've done that. good luck speedy

I would Ebay them separately, rather than joblot them for a larger outlay. Most collectors would likely only be interested in one of those machines for $100 odd rather than all for several hundred.
Personally I'd be all over that VC if it was the VC-125.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Regarding the Supreme twin cylinder mower, I would clean the dirt off before posting it up on EBay. Presentation is important whether people realise it or not and may influence whether someone places a bid. It doesn't look attractive all dirty and even if it doesn't run, cleaning it up will make it look closer to unboxed condition which is what collectors envisage them as.

Yeah, i gave the supreme a wash down this weekend. certainly looks better! And she started first go to after the wash! ill post some photos before she goes up on ebay.
My opinion, but I wouldn't list it for less than $300 to start with as it's in running condition and looks in good shape, although the rear cylinder it's prone to failure and can sound like it's running properly. A way to tell is to listen for irregular pops coming from the motor, indicating a failure from one of the cylinders, most likely the rear. The other way is to feel the handles for excess vibration that causes discomfort to the hands when running. They are renowned for their smooth running, so if it's feels as rough or rougher then an average two stroke, it's not running on both cylinders. As a guide, one just like yours with the one owner and it's 1981 purchase papers from new at Waltons fetched $650 on the bay of fleas a few years ago. It had it's original dark brown catcher. Not sure if yours is a black replacement catcher you've got there. Anyway, I'll be interested to hear how you went with the online auction.

I mowed the lawn with it a while back (late last year with the catcher) and then i noticed the catcher was getting brittle so i just packed it away. MY catcher is dark brown but it has seen better days (took me a long time to find the original catcher, its the same colour as the cowl). I have attached a video of it running. Does it sound like it has the ""irregular pops"?
If no one here wants the left over parts you could eBay them or put them on Gumtree ,someone will want them.
I had about 20 of the early VC models but only one with the original small green plastic shroud around the impulse starter so that mower sold well but the others I just scrapped for alloy as no one was interested in them and they all only cost me $10. each. The catchers for the VC are hard to find so people pay $30 for a catcher even if it's had a repair.
Sorry about the short clip, the max file size is something like 3 mb so i had to edit it a fair bit. SUprised noone want the parts.. Back in the day, bumbly (if anyone here remembers him) drove 6 hours to pic up a VC self propelled from me.. (he did like the VC's though..)
The Supreme has 29 bidders with a price of $460 so far. I hope the winner honours the deal and doesn't change his mind and abscond after realising what a frenzied buffoon he was. Greed -Bay is is known for bidding wars getting out of control and the winner refusing to pay.

For anyone interested, the mower was sold via ebay for the price stated. The buyer drove from a fair way away to pick it up. It goes to show that there is a bit of a following with the twins.
