I just pulled a GXV160 electric start motor out from my pile that has been sitting there for probably 5/6 years never drained the carby just put it in the pile . I paid $50 for it and the bloke told me there was something wrong with the valves, he had adjusted them several times and it would just not run right. I pulled it out today and set it up on the bench, put fuel in it and it fired straight up, but as soon as the choke was eased it revved straight up. Adjusted the governor and it purs like a kitten. They are an amazing motor, best mower motors ever made
MF, I glad he couldn't work out what was wrong with it, he would have wanted a lot more for it, it hasn't done a lot of work so should have years left in it.
Great when that happens. I got a camcorder on the cheap that way at a second hand store. Apparently the view finder was not working but when I had a look, it worked. The person on duty at the counter said quietly it's your lucky day and charged the low price. You needed to pull the viewfinder an extra little bit to make it active.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
I am now at the stage of getting a battery for this slasher and I'm wondering if anybody has an idea of what size of battery I need. I know it is only a 160cc but it does take quite a bit of effort to pull start it. I'm guessing it will need something like a 9ah motorcycle battery to spin it over fast enough?
