I had a spare working two stroke Victa Powertorque engine I took off a worn rusty base and had just removed a stuffed Tecumseh motor ready to send to scrap and it's base is in decent shape, so fitted the PT to it. I was going to fit better ball bearing wheels on but found it pushes quite easily so will just leave the existing wheels on.
Here's another identical unit next to it for comparison.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
It's a bit vibratory at high revs NormK but it starts easily and idles low enough with the throttle in the mid position. It'll probably smooth out under a decent load.

I used your method of inverting the engine on a bench and placing the chassis upside down on top of it before bolting it on. The easiest way to line up the holes.

Hi MF, Not all the PT bases will take a 4 stroke Briggs or whatever, they need to be the multiple drilled bases or you have to drill the extra hole or holes can't remember
All the bases I've come across have multi holes to fit various engines. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the design briefs of the PT was to have the same bolt circle as the American four strokes to save having to make two base moulds.

This could come in handy. I have a very nice Victa alloy base with a shot PT engine (totally seized up, took the parts off it now) and a big, square Quantum 35 I have on a Supaswift alloy base where the wheel stubs have rusted off. I wanted to somehow save the Supaswift base, as I used the engine itself to learn how to fix up a 4 stroke (running very nicely now. Dates from the late 80's/early 90's I think), but I haven't been able to come across the right parts for the base, so I might be able to transplant the Quantum on to the Victa base.
Hi MF, I come across the PT only drilled bases on and off most are multi drilled Sapper if you put the Quantam on the Victa base you will need a Briggs spacer ring or you have to lift the motor 20mm because the shaft it linger than the Victa

Except for the Tornado or Razor base I imagine as they take the long shaft Victa PT.

Ah, in that case I had better let you guys know the Victa base in question. It is a 1980's alloy base for thumb latch catchers (of which I also have a spare in good nick), the same as the green Mustang I have showed you guys, but in white. I am guessing this won't be multi holed, as I assume they only put their prize PT engine on the alloy bases back then. Maybe I should just take the base plate off and take a look instead of second guessing.

I think you'll find that's not the case. Two of my thumblatch PTs had a Briggs on them before I fitted PTs to them, both of which you've seen.
