Picked up this AV Everyman mower for $50 and hoping to learn more about it.
Good compression, but no spark, will remove flywheel cover and clean the points to see if I can get it running this weekend. Have worked on alot of BS powered SB45s etc over the years but nothing villiers powered or this old.
Has had a pretty rudimentary frame repair done at some stage with a welded repair, but other then that looks to be original and to have cut the lawn 1million times!
I know one tenth of nix on reel type mowers, but do know that my Victa 160 that had been sitting for months outside -but sheltered, wouldn't give me a peep until I rubbed the points down with some finer grade sandpaper and regapped them. Fires up again like before now.
There was a recent thread discussing how to test the coil and what readings you should get in ohms of resistance to indicate whether it's ok or not.
Hi Gureno If you are taking the Fly wheel off have a look at the manual on this forum for villiers Midget motors if you havent had any thing to do with them it will save a bit of heart ache (or it did me}
Diving a bit deeper into it over the weekend I noticed that gasket between the head and crank case is gone and when turning it over alot of fuel/air is seeping past, so really need to pull the motor and replace that now.
I imagine I'll probably have to make my own gasket though as parts seem very hard to come by.
