Hi,new to the forum, i picked up this rover lawn mower non goer,had been sitting for a long time.it had spark and compression i pulled down carby(flo jet) and found stale fuel and gumed up. Fuel tank was same.so cleaned up both.engine now running. There was no decals on the mower to indicate what size/type the engine is. Numbers stamped on engine cover are 121702 018501 91072956,hoping someone can give me more info on this engine Thanks ps went to file manager to add photo just wasn't working for me

its manufactured July 29, 1991. HP was around 4.5 but Briggs didn't post those specs.

G'day AVB, Thank you for your reply, the info is most useful, one other thing you may be able to answer, when i was working on this motor i noticed i could move the fly wheel up and down how much end play is acceptable on these motors?

Per service manual it is .002 – .030” (0.05 – 0.76 mm) for 120000 series side valve engines. Now there are shims that could be used when the play was excessive.
• 220624 .0625 thrust washer for .875” (22.23 mm) dia. crankshaft. • 220708 .0625 thrust washer for 1.000” (25.4 mm) dia. crankshaft. • 222949 .062 thrust washer for 1.181” (30.0 mm) dia. crankshaft. • 222951 .062 thrust washer for 1.378” (35.0 mm) dia. crankshaft
