2-stroke mower addict!
So I'm not sure if there is a thread on this but I haven't found one which talks or goes through all of the different faces of the very early Victa chokes.

So I'm actually starting this thread to ask for input on a range of different style faces and material the very simple but effective choke/airfilter that was used on the early models of Victa.

I have pictures of some I own, 1 a mate owns and other reference pictures.

1: Black writing and the upside-down smile Victa embossed.
2: Red writing and the upside-down smile Victa embossed.
3: Red writing Victa embossed straight.
4: Red start and Run.
5: Showing one that in darkness looks like black writing.
6: Showing in the bright light that the writing is Red.
7: Great example of the effect of UV on colour change
8: More translucent material.

I'd love to see any other orientations or style of these chokes and any history about the evolution of the faces.

This is one that without a bright light, the writing appears black but under a flash is clearly red. The next picture is it under a flash.

A choke with nothing on the face except a great example of colour change caused by UV. This had a price sticker on it for a very long time.

The last one i have to show is another one without anything on it's face but is a more translucent material.

G'day Sean,

1 Not sure when the black one came out.

2 Victa boomerang top used on Rotomo and Auto.

3 Victa Special.

4,5,6 Possibly 1962 to 1964 Victa Utility or is just a Victa replacement part sold by Victa and Bynorm.

7,8 Replacement aftermarket part .

For me having the original plastic choke doesn't mean a lot ,it's a little like having original tyres or battery
for your car.

Thanks Max, perfectly easy to follow information!!!

Im very happy to use good quality reproduction parts but if I can get an original part in good condition for a fair price, I'll snap the original up. That's how all bar 1 of the 5 pre 1960 restorations came about, I just stumbled upon enough of the rarer parts at cheap prices (compared to ebay) and now I'm just waiting for a couple of parts for my model 2 and auto but I've got everything for my model 5c, special 5c and my model 8 standard.

So here is a very interesting choke off a barn find model 1. Translucent body rather than black. It is definitely not faded by UV its %100 Translucent.
