Evening all
Just found out today that GA spares are now no longer offering exchange rebore kits for Victa 2 stroke engines. Until recently, it was always an option to pay the $150ish for a exchange cylinder and piston assembly from GA. This leaves those who used them for toecutter 125cc restos a bit out of luck
They did these for 125cc and 160cc FC and you could also get +.40, 60 80 bores from memory
Can still get regular and oversize piston and ring sets
Whether they are still willing to do return rebores (you send one and they do it and send the same unit back - what they did with some keystart PT blocks) I do not know

Tyler, do you know if they're still redoing Powertorque mono blocks on an exchange basis for same price?
I'm sure there would still be sufficient demand for the moment, although the four stroke indoctrination is almost complete.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Apparently no 2 stroke rebores at all - PT or FC

What would the largest oversize piston bring it out to, 163cc?

G'day folks, MF, the 2.0mm oversize would take it a bit over 170cc - 170.9, actually. BTW Tyler, GA Spares no longer list any 125cc Victa pistons/kits, either. Just Std and +0.5mm ring sets... Ta for the heads-up on this!
Cheers, Gadge

That's the same capacity as the Victa 500 twin! It must have an edge over even a brand new PT, in cutting the tough stuff. Only thing, is it will have to be scrapped once it wears out again.
It's sad I can't get myself a renewed PT easily now. I was told about this exchange service a few years, ago. I wish I thought to get one done. I understand it's the naked motor sans all accessories including the ignition system and even the head?
DId they hand you a motor block complete with piston and bearings installed?

Hi Gadge, just looked and sure enough as you say not even any 125 pistons. A great shame
MF - I am not sure but I believe they handed you a motor block with a piston, rings, gudgeon and clips in a separate box. Then you had to do the final cleaning (probably sat on shelf for a while), sort out your own crank/crank bearings and button it all back together

In amazed they were still supplying kits for the 125 considering it ceased being made by 1978.
I wonder if you could specify an Aussie or Chinese PT block or was it luck of the draw what you received regardless what you handed in? Each of the two castings were originally fitted with different ignition systems. Can you fit either ignition system to either block?

Was specific - I think they called them "wide cooling fin" motors vs regular on GA catalogue. So you specified which

Hi All,
We still have some power Torque rebores (with Piston and rings) available and a couple 125cc (No Pistons) and 160cc (with Pistons and rings) will have to check about G3 rebores.

Contacted GA, good news is they will still do rebores - on a return basis. You get your original one back.
Still have the issue of no 125 oversize pistons though

That's good news for now. Does Outdoorking shop still require you to hand in a viable motor?
